Would you like to become a leader in the Bard community, represent your fellow students to the administration, have a say in the world of club financing, play a role in the tenure process, or more? If any of these phrases speak to you, there are some details and upcoming deadlines of which you should be aware. This is VERY IMPORTANT for anyone who wants to run for a Central Assembly position (i.e. the Student Government “heads”), or for Secretary of Press.
The Central Assembly positions are as follows, in no particular order:
Speaker of the Student Body
Chair of the Student Life Committee
Chair of the Peer Review Board
Chair of the Student Judiciary Board
Chair of the Fiscal Committee
Chair of the Educational Policies Committee
Treasurer
…all to be assisted in the area of public relations by the Secretary of Press
(Some of these positions have prerequisites that can be found in the appropriate sections of the Constitution/Bylaws, which I have linked below.)
As per the Constitution, the following deadlines apply:
– All Central Assembly and Secretary of Press candidates shall announce their electoral intentions to the Constitutional Court by the first Friday in April. In this case that date is APRIL 4th, 2014, and you must send this notice of intent to concourt@bard.edu.
– FURTHERMORE, if you intend to run for the position of Speaker of the Student Body or Secretary of Press, you must submit 50 student signatures to the same email by the same date.
– Elections for these positions shall occur online from 12:00 AM Thursday, April 17th to 9:00 PM Saturday April 19th.
– All candidates should VERY CAREFULLY read the electoral procedure as outlined in the Constitution and Bylaws; any unconstitutional electoral or campaigning activity shall be subject to oversight and review by the Constitutional Court.
